Corporate Experience
with Lucas Handley
Beyond physical health, there is an ever-increasing recognition of the importance of mental health, resilience training and stress management to:
§ employee engagement, productivity and financial performance;
§ maintaining collegiate working environments; and
§ ultimately, support the commercial success of businesses.
Workplace health and safety obligations may also be served by employers maintaining a focus on ensuring holistic health management for all employees; from executives to managers and junior colleagues.
Human performance optimisation and progressive employee development strategies are at the forefront of successful businesses.
Our corporate workshops reflect a dedication to these concepts as we bring teams together in activities that are both engaging and challenging, to offer new ways of managing and increasing performance under stress and, sometimes, extreme pressure.
With our background in Advanced Freediving, we have decades of knowledge accumulated by working at full potential in highly stressful environments. Through experiences that include diving to the depths of the ocean on breath hold in challenging circumstances and with dangerous marine life, we know all too intimately the importance of remaining calm and fully functional as our brains feel the first pangs of anxiety.
Developed and tailored for the corporate environment, our training programmes focus comprehensively on the physical, physiological and psychological aspects of breath hold and the insights each gives us into our regular behaviours.
With a deep experience working with individuals, work groups and colleagues across offices, whether in Australia or overseas, we guide participants through fun activities by which they learn with first-hand experience about stress and, moreover, stress mitigation techniques.
We work together to set new goals surrounding mental discipline, logical decision making and peripheral awareness under pressure. With a dedication to enhancing performance in the work environment and beyond, our training programmes can be calibrated to reflect the circumstances of specific workplaces and industries.
To apply the principles learnt through the breath hold training activities, enjoyable freediving experiences can also be arranged. Half day and full day experiences are available. Please send us an email under “contact” to register your interest and group size
Testimonials
As part of our corporate training to manage stress, we decided to engage The Underwater Academy to strengthen our body and mind through Hypercapnia. The activity couldn't be better. Such an amazing experience were we all learnt how to "teach" our mind to control our anxiety. Lucas taught us valuable exercises, explained all the details and the rationale behind the activity. Later on, we move into the pool to put everything into practice and we really enjoyed it.
The whole teams feedback has been amazing and we really look forward to repeating this shortly as we are going to extend it to the whole business! I strongly recommend The Underwater Academy and Lucas to any business which want to deal with stressful environments.
Thanks Lucas for all the explanations and support!!

As Chairman for the Australia and New Zealand Chapter of The Explorers Club, it is my role to organise “Evenings of Adventure” in Sydney and Melbourne. In Septmeber we welcomed Lucas Handley as a key note speaker at our event in Sydney. The evening was booked over capacity.
His presentation was entertaining and informative. He transported the audience to exotic locations, sharing his immersive experience in nature and Polynesian cultures. He accomplished 100% audience participation teaching the basic breath holding techniques that makes freediving possible. And all of this was based on a powerful message of ecologically sustainable development of our oceans. For one hour Lucas captivated our audience.
Lucas Handley exemplifies the values that we as a society hold dear, so it is with great pleasure that I recommend Lucas Handley and his presentations for any audience, whether they be corporate, social or school groups.
